EtherChannel

EtherChannel technology allows to combine multiple physical Ethernet links (Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet) into a logical channel, which is a port link aggregation technology developed by EtherChannel Cisco, which is a fault-tolerant high- Provides speed links.

EtherChannel technology allows to group several physical Ethernet links (Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, or 10 Gigabit Ethernet), in order to provide fault-tolerance and high-speed links between switches, routers and servers, a logical ethernet Links can be made. This allows sharing of traffic between links in the channel.

With the use of EtherChannel, the Cisco catalyst presents the concept of load balancing and redundancy on the switch. EtherChannel technology can be used to increase the bandwidth between the two devices, which supports EtherChannel technology and EtherChannel technology provides auto-retrieval for the loss of a link by redistributing the load on the remaining link. The EtherChannel technology allows automatic redirection of network traffic from the remaining links to the remaining links in EtherChannel. This document does not cover the way to configure EtherChannel on the CatList switch.

What is EtherChannel?
EtherChannel

An EtherChannel bundle a personal Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet or 10-Gigabit link into a single logical link. EtherChannel offers full-duplex bandwidth between switches, router and servers, up to 800 Mbps (Fast EtherChannel FEC) or 8 Gbps (Gigabit EtherChannel) or 10 Gbps (10-Gigabit EtherChannel 10EC).

There is a topology in which two switches are connected to a PC. The link between the switch and the PC is 1000MB / s and the link between the switch is 100MB / s. Now, suppose that if you want to send traffic of more than 100MB / s, then we have a crowd because the link between the switch is only 100mb / s and the packets will start to fall. Now, to solve this problem, we should have a high-speed link between the switch. To get this, we can simply replace the current link with a high-speed link or we can bundle multiple links at the same speed of 100MB / s. By creating EtherChannel, you can bundle more than one link into a single logical link.

The main advantage of EtherChannel technology is that it allows redundancy in this event as well as sharing the weight of traffic between the links in the channel that one or more links fail in EtherChannel.

EtherChannel is a Cisco copyrighted word and the term adopted by the industry is "Link aggregation".
